Welcome to Taxi Tours Scotland Historical
Scotland's history of historically famous buildings is impressive. From defence, to attack and religion plus politics is fascinating.
Scotland and it's inhabitants have lived through incredibly turbulent times. The scars are everywhere to be seen with a backdrop of beautiful scenery and the manipulation of the masses, the wars, the Highland clearances and the exodus of Scots to America, Canada and latterly Australia to make a fresh start.
No wonder there are so many Burns Nights around the Globe.
Hisorical Scotland saw an almighty rise in building during the 12th Century driven by King David 1 of Scotland.
Who had been exiled to England and inherited land in Cumbria and the borders of Scotland and expanded. He was also a large landowner in England and spent time in Norman France.
It's quite mind boggling what he managed to achieve before and once on the on the throne.
He definitely had his own political and religious path.
He introduced burghs or regional areas. He introduced regional markets. He installed Gregorian reform at the centre as hubs of power. Introduced feudalism, which is based on Normanisation, where all the land effectively came under the power of the crown but was split into areas, where he placed powerful allies.
He achieved this by bringing Anglo-Normans, Norman knights and some Flemmish to Scotland.
Amazing doesnt begin to describe this period of time and the explosive nature of these incredible constructions of statement buildings, be they for defence or for religious purposes.
The Scottish Reformation was indeed a time of great destruction to many of these beautiful buildings, most left in ruins but some rebuilt.
Not all of the buildings in the gallery were built in the 12 century but many are featured and worth being on a tour alongside many of the more modern buildings.
It's easily possible to visit a number of these buildings, have afternoon tea. Visit an attraction or 2 on the way back and fit in dinner too.
Historical Tours can intertwine with various other tours and the scenic tour is just part of the drive.
